For 2021 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 will get four new colour choices, along with the option for alloy wheels
Bookings for the MY2021 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 have begun in the Indian market, with the launch expected to happen very soon. The updates to the motorcycle include two new single-tone paint options – Canyon Red and Ventura Blue – along with two new dual-tone paint options – Downtown Drag (silver and black) and Sunset Strip (black and red).
The Orange Crush and Baker Express colour options have been carried over from the previous model. As for the Glitter and Dust (chrome) option, it has been updated slightly and re-christened ‘Mark Two’. It features red highlights alongside the chrome body, which the manufacturer states is inspired by the original Interceptor 750.
The Mark Three, Ravishing Red, and Silver Spectre colours will be discontinued upon launch of the 2021 model. Also, the motorcycle will now get alloy wheels as a part of its official accessories catalogue. As standard, the motorcycle will continue to offer wire-spoked wheels though. We expect a few other upgrades to be offered as well, although the full extent of these changes is not known yet.
No changes are expected to the engine of the Interceptor 650. It will continue to be powered by a 648cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin motor, which develops a peak power of 47.65 PS and a maximum torque of 52 Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed sequential gearbox, and a slipper clutch is offered as standard.
The motorcycle will also continue to offer 40mm conventional telescopic forks at the front, and dual coil-over shockers at the rear. The braking system will continue to consist of a 320mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, along with dual-channel ABS. The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is expected to get updates as well, along similar lines.
Also, Royal Enfield is planning to launch a slew of other motorcycles in the Indian market soon. These include the next-generation Classic 350 and a new 650c cruiser, both of which are expected to launch this year. Other than that, Classic 650 is also in the making, and the manufacturer had previously stated that it will also develop an electric motorcycle in the near future.
