Royal Enfield Continental GT-R 750 cafe racer will become the first offering from the new 750 cc range of flagship motorcycles upon arrival
Royal Enfield is currently developing a brand new range of motorcycles for domestic and international markets. On the back of its tremendous success with the 650 cc series, the brand is working on a new 750 cc engine platform internally codenamed ‘R’ and the Continental GT-R will reportedly be the first model to feature this new powertrain.
Expected to debut before the end of the existing FY, what has been codenamed R1E will be a faired cafe racer. While the technical specifications are not known yet, the report notes that the 750 cc engine will be heavily influenced by the tried-and-tested 648 cc parallel twin unit, used in Continental GT, Interceptor, Super Meteor, Shotgun, Bear and Classic 650 Twin.
The new motor will likely produce higher power and torque outputs compared to the 47 hp and 52.3 Nm being put out by the 650 cc mill. Compared to the existing GT, the upcoming Continental GT-R 750 is expected to be heavier but more powerful and be able to achieve higher top speeds as well. We can expect new electronic aids to be available to position it in a more premium manner.

The Royal Enfield 650 cc range carries a starting price of just over Rs. 3 lakh and it goes all the way up to nearly Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom). Thus, the Continental GT-R 750 could be priced higher than that but compared to similarly specced motorcycles from other brands, we can expect RE to heavily undercut them both in India as well as abroad. It will take plenty of design inspiration from the GT 650 while maintaining a unique identity.
Just as in its 350 cc, 450 cc and 650 cc portfolio, the new 750 cc motor will be employed in multiple body-styles as a roadster, adventure tourer and cruiser could also be in the pipeline for the future. Bear in mind that the Chennai-based manufacturer also has a new range of electric offerings in the pipeline and some of them have already been previewed.
