Royal Enfield Scram 440 comes with a new 443 cc air-cooled engine, delivering 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm
Royal Enfield unveiled the Scram 440 at the Motoverse 2024 festival in Vagator, Goa, introducing a host of mechanical upgrades. Although retaining the familiar Scram 411 design, the new model incorporates significant improvements for enhanced performance, comfort and practicality. With its launch expected soon, a slight price increase over its predecessor is likely.
Central to the upgrades is the new LS440 engine, which now displaces 443 cc thanks to a 3 mm increase in bore. This results in a 4.5% boost in power, producing 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm, and a 6.5% torque increase, peaking at 34 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a new six-speed gearbox featuring a revised final gear ratio for improved highway cruising and better traction. A pull-type clutch has also been introduced, reducing lever effort by 0.75 kg for enhanced rider comfort.
The Scram 440 continues with the rugged half-duplex split cradle frame from the previous Himalayan 411, ensuring durability and stability. Its suspension setup includes 41 mm telescopic front forks with 190 mm of travel and a link-type monoshock offering 180 mm of travel at the rear. Weighing 196 kg, the bike features a wheelbase of 1,460 mm and an overall length of 2,165 mm, offering balanced handling on varied terrain.

For off-road enthusiasts, the motorcycle features a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels shod with dual-purpose tubeless tyres. Those seeking a classic touch can opt for wire-spoked wheels with tubed tyres. The updated LED headlamp and switchable ABS add to its off-road readiness and better visibility.
The Scram 440 also gains practical upgrades including a USB Type-A charging port and a semi-digital instrument console with an optional tripper navigation system. Its seat height of 795 mm makes it accessible to a broad range of riders while its improved ground clearance of 200 mm ensures versatility in diverse riding conditions.
