Royal Enfield Hunter 450 Spied

Royal Enfield Hunter 450 will be powered by a new 450 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that will debut in the Himalayan 450 making around 40 bhp

Royal Enfield is preparing to launch the new generation Bullet 350 and Himalayan 450 next in India. The dual-purpose adventure tourer holds plenty of significance for the Chennai-based manufacturer as it will be the first motorcycle coming out of the 450 cc range. It is expected to be priced at around Rs. 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom) and will have several firsts for an RE.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 could be followed by a retro-styled roadster in the early parts of next year. Less than two weeks ago, Triumph launched the Speed 400 in India for a shocking price tag of Rs. 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom) and Harley-Davidson introduced the X440 as well. The competition in this particular segment has certainly picked up.

While the Triumph Speed 400 is already considered a benchmark in this segment, it will be interesting to see what Royal Enfield cooks up with its upcoming neo-retro roadster. The spy images of the motorcycle have already been caught multiple times in India as well as abroad. They suggest that the styling could be in line with the existing Hunter 350.

It will apparently be more premium than the Hunter 350 and will have LED lighting all around and the suspension duties will be handled by upside-down front forks and offset monoshock suspension at the rear. As for braking, front and rear disc brakes will be assisted by a dual-channel ABS system. It is yet unknown if it will feature traction control and switchable ABS.

As for the performance, the same 450 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that will debut in the Himalayan 450 will be utilised. It develops a maximum power output of around 40 bhp and will be mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper and assist clutch as standard. It could be dubbed the Royal Enfield Hunter 450.

Expect the motorcycle to be underpinned by a brand new chassis. The features list will also comprise wire-spoke wheels or alloy wheels in some variants, a fully-digital instrument cluster, a slim fuel tank, a wide handlebar setup and middle-set footpegs.
