CS Santosh takes the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 for an off-road spin, providing a glimpse into the capabilities of this ADV
In a captivating video on social media, Dakar Rally finisher CS Santosh recently showcased the forthcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450’s off-road prowess. The video shows him effortlessly jumping, sliding, and manoeuvring the bike with motocross-like agility. The new 450cc engine seems to have great performance, allowing the ADV to perform brilliantly.
The new USD front fork and monoshock suspension prove resilient, tackling challenging terrain and big jumps with ease. The bike’s impressive power and potential to deactivate the rear ABS system are also apparent, offering riders full control during off-road adventures. Notably, the teaser video reveals a brief glimpse of a different bike equipped with a high-mount Arrow exhaust. It is likely to be an official accessory.
With multiple test model sightings and this new teaser, we expect the ADV to launch soon. The production-spec model closely resembles the test mules that are doing the rounds currently. With each sighting, the bike’s readiness for market introduction becomes more evident. Enthusiasts can expect the Himalayan 450 to arrive in showrooms in the coming months, fulfilling their long-awaited desires for this adventure-focused motorcycle.

The styling of Himalayan 450 is an evolution of the current Himalayan. It gets familiar features – a round front headlamp, tall windscreen, a front subframe, and scooped split-seat arrangement – but it looks much sleeker. Mechanically, the new 450 Himalayan will be much better than the existing model, as evident by the improved suspension system.
The engine would be a brand-new 450cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor, likely mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The peak power is expected to hover around the 40 bhp mark, which will bring it closer to its biggest rival – KTM 390 Adventure – while outperforming competitors like BMW G310 GS and Yezdi Adventure.
With its powerful engine, long-travel suspension, and rugged features, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is poised to elevate the adventure riding experience. CS Santosh’s off-road test ride provides a tantalizing preview of the bike’s capabilities. The new ADV is projected to carry a price tag of approximately Rs 2.8-3.0 lakh (ex-showroom), which is significantly more expensive than the current Himalayan.
